Deco’real biography

Artist Lionel Rocton set up his company Deco’Real in 2007, in Cuverville, near Caen (Calvados). Since then, he has created hundreds of frescoes, portraits and other trompe-l’œil spray paintings for individuals, businesses and local authorities. An art learnt “on the job” by this passionate painter.

L’artiste Lionel Rocton a créé son entreprise Deco’Real en 2007, à Cuverville, près de Caen (Calvados). Depuis, il a réalisé des centaines de fresques, portraits et autres trompe-l’œil à la bombe pour le compte de particuliers, d’entreprises ou de collectivités. Un art appris « sur le tas » par ce passionné de peinture.

About his new mural named “Alex” in Québec, Canada

Mural at 223-225 3è Avenue, Limoilou, Quebec
Completion date: July 11 to 18, 2023.

The mural has been created by artist Deco’Real. The artist explains his approach as follows: “This mural reflects my vision of children’s mental health. There are two parts to the same child: the cheerful, joyful, sunny and hopeful part and the darker, duller, more complex part. This explains why the left-hand side is oriented towards fairly bright colours and the right-hand side towards darker colours. The happy side of the child is holding out a sunflower towards his darker side, to bring him hope and light, a hand outstretched towards him. The two children are leaning on a cushion, to reassure them that they are in bed and asleep. The eyes of one of the children are masked by a coat of pink paint, a sign of his lack of desire to see beauty, light and hope.

Date de réalisation : du 11 au 18 juillet 2023.

Cette fresque sera réalisée par l’artiste Deco’Real. L’artiste explique ainsi  sa démarche : « Cette murale reflète ma vision de la santé mentale chez l’enfant. Deux parties d’un même enfant, sa part gaie, joyeuse, solaire et pleine d’espoir et son autre partie plus sombre, plus éteinte, plus complexe. Ce qui explique que la partie de gauche soit orientée sur des couleurs assez vives et la partie de droite sur des couleurs plus sombres. Le côté joyeux de l’enfant tend vers son côté sombre une fleur de tournesol, pour lui amener de l’espoir et de la lumière, une main tendue vers lui. Les deux enfants sont appuyés sur un coussin pour un côté rassurant lié au lit, au sommeil. Le regard d’un des enfants est masquée par un coup de peinture rose, signe de son manque d’envie de voir le beau, de voir la lumière et l’espoir.»
